***THE 2017/18 SUMMER TRAIL SERIES HAS NOW CONCLUDED***
Thanks to everyone who came out to support the SA Summer Trail Series. Whether you ran, volunteered, supplied product and vouchers, provided a service or were just there to support others, you were all valuable in making the Series what it was. We are really happy with how it all went. There’s processes to improve on but that’s always a given. Just like a runner wanting to get faster, we always want the quality of our events to improve.
Don’t forget we will be having the Series presentations at The Running Company Adelaide, on Unley Road, on Tuesday June 5 starting at 6.30pm. We will also be celebrating our volunteers in a special presentation on the same night. Date and time TBA as soon as we can.
The future of the Series is bright. We will continue with the Anstey Hill, Cleland, and O’Halloran Hill venues, and will be replacing Newland Head with Belair as the final event for the 2018/19 Series.
So rest up, reflect on your runs over summer, and set some big goals for yourself for the remainder of 2018! The running year has really only just begun.
If you were a runner in the 2017/18 Series we have a half-price deal for the next Summer Series which begins on December 9 2018. Entries are only open for two weeks and commence Tuesday morning on March 20. A link will be emailed out Monday evening to all the ex-entrants from the 2017/18 Series. If you haven’t received an email by 8.00am Tuesday March 20 then please let Ben know.
ABOUT THE SUMMER TRAIL SERIES
Age group categories have now been reduced to five-year spans, and there is also an improved points-score system to reduce the number of drawn results at the end of the Series. And there will still be Long Course and Short Course Champions awarded at the end of the Series, as well as top-three age group awards. Plus medals will be awarded to the top three overall males and females at each event.
But you don’t need to be aiming to be a “contender” for Series points. Each run is still a stand-alone trail event, and we would love to see you out there no matter what your motivation.
As ever, the focus of the Series is to encourage runners of all abilities – whether you are new to trail running or a veteran – and we hope that you find the pre- and in-event instructions plain and simple, to allow you more time to enjoy the event! We love running trails and we just want you to fall in love with it too. Or to stay in love with them even after you have run your event.
And we have also introduced a special “Junior Run” for children 12 years old and under. For just $5 each Junior entrant will receive a bib and the opportunity to run on a short (1km or under) trail course. Their event is untimed so that they all have a chance to run a trail without the pressure to do well against their peers. And in the 2018/19 Series each Junior finisher will receive their own special medal at each event.
Summer is a great time to get out and exercise, especially first thing in the morning. We hope this Series will continue to inspire people to get out and enjoy the environment, something near and dear to Yumigo!.
Don’t forget to enter all four events before the Anstey Hill race on December 9 to receive your fourth event free!
